Michael J. Tougias is a NY Times Bestselling author and co-author of 29 books. He is best known for his seven true survival books: So Close To Home, The Finest Hours, Ten Hours Until Dawn, A Storm Too Soon, Overboard, Rescue of the Bounty and Fatal Forecast. The Finest Hours has been made into a Disney movie. Tougias also co-wrote King Philip’s War and a novel set during that war titled Until I Have No Country. He has also written several nature books: including River Days: Exploring the Connecticut from Source to Sea, and Quabbin: A History and Explorers Guide. His memoir There’s A Porcupine In My Outhouse: Misadventures of a Mountain Man Wannabe, won the Independent Publishers “Best Nature Book of the Year Award”. His latest inspirational book is Derek’s Gift. Many of his books have been adapted for young adults and middle readers. Tougias speaks to groups across the country and has a slide lecture for each of his books. He also speaks to business groups on his inspirational lecture sharing what he has learned from survivors and rescuers about overcoming adversity and making decision under pressure.
