EQ IN THE WORKPLACE
Dr. Jan Pullen is in her 18th as Head of School and in her 33rd year as an administrator at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School. Jan arrived at Saint Stephen’s in 1988 as the Lower School Director, a role she held for 15 years, along with being Associate Head of School for six years. Dr. Pullen holds degrees from Florida State University (B.S.) and National Louis University (M.Ed.). In May 2013, she graduated with a doctorate degree (Ed.D.) in educational leadership and organization from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Pullen is currently a member and vice-president of the Board of Directors for the Florida Council of Independent Schools, a member of the Board of Directors of Global Outreach-Tanzania and the international organization Water Is Life and Global Alliance of Leading Edge Schools, and past director on the governing board for the National Association for Episcopal Schools. In the community, she is a sustaining member in the Service Club of Manatee County and a member of Christ Episcopal Church. In addition to Dr. Pullen’s professional interests, she is a wife and mother of three grown children who all graduated from Saint Stephen’s. She is also the proud grandmother of five grandchildren, two of whom attend Saint Stephen’s and three who are at the Academy of the Holy Names in Tampa. A sixth grandchild is due in March 2021. Jan is also an avid reader and a beach lover.
