Phil Guarco is a Managing Director and Senior Investor with more than 25 years of experience working with corporations, wealthy families and family foundations globally. He presently is a senior member of a team of professionals which provide capital markets, investment and wealth advisory services to families in South Florida. Prior to his current position, Phil was responsible for the Private Bank’s global fixed income strategy and view, which included more than $100 billion in total assets.
Phil joined J.P. Morgan in 2008 as the Chief Investment Strategist for Latin America in the Private Bank. There he was responsible for the multi-asset portfolio construction and investment implementation for JP Morgan’s Latin American clients. In 2013 he became the Global Head of Fixed Income Strategy where he designed and implemented the Private Bank’s investment strategy for fixed income. Phil began his career at Citibank where he also spent three years as a corporate lender in their Mexico City office. He subsequently was the senior credit officer for Latin American financial institutions for Moody’s Investor’s Service.
Phil’s commentaries have been frequently covered in the local and international press, including the Financial Times, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. He has been a frequent guest speaker on Bloomberg, CNBC, and Reuters News and his writings have often been cited in World Bank and IMF publications.
A graduate of Regis High School in Manhattan, Phil holds a Bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College, and a Master of International Affairs from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). He lives with his wife and daughter in Coral Gables. Phil is the Chair of the Governance Committee and a Board Member of Cristo Rey Miami High School, a new high school for economically disadvantaged youth, which opened in September 2022.
